These figures were designed to represent Owlbears, freakish hybrids of bears and owls bred for unknown purposes by a deranged wizard. As with the ADD59 Trolls, ADD77 Umber Hulks and ADD86 Minotaurs, they were cast as two-piece models with identical bodies and variant heads. There were four variant heads made.
Head Variant A. This head is more bear-like, with small mammalian ears and eyes but a large raptor's beak.
Head Variant B. This variant head is very owl-like, with distinctive eye discs. The head is tilted back and the beak is wide open showing small teeth and a long tongue.
Head Variant C. This is another owl-like head with long ear-tufts and large eyes. The beak is medium-sized and closed.
Head Variant D. This head variant has very distinctive eye discs, fairly large eyes, but a very small closed beak. This variant seems to be rarer than the others.
